After almost a month of downtime, Camelot, the National Lottery operator in the UK, has finally released a fix for its faulty mobile application. At the end of October, the company was forced to pull both its Android and iOS National Lottery applications, after its customers complained that it had not been working properly.
Customers reported about a month ago, neither the QR ticket scanner result-checking, nor the manual-entry functions were working correctly. As a result, the system informed players who had winning tickets that their tickets were losers.
The company has released a statement apologising for the disruption of the app, saying it had worked very hard in order to fix the issues. It also informed its customers that a new version of the National Lottery mobile application for iOS devices had been launched. When it comes to the Android version of the application, the UK National Lottery operator revealed that it was being tested and it is planned to be officially released soon.
The company said that the issues causing the problem was related to the software release that became available to users of Android-based devices on October 13th and to users of iOS-based devices on October 20th. Its official statement also provides customers with instructions on the download and installation of the new National Lottery application.
The UK-based Lottery operator had been hit by a wave of public criticism related to the problem. The company had been knowingly neglecting an increasing number of customer complaints for more than a week, before it finally admitted that the application was facing some problems. Now, Camelot informed its users that the new version of its iOS application had undergone an independent check in order to make sure it is running smoothly.
What is more, Camelot urged all customers who had some queries or concerns related to tickets they have previously purchased via the mobile application to get in contact with the company’s player services division. Such players have until 5 PM on November 30th to file their claims in order for the latter to be considered.
Last week, the company announced its H1 results of the 2016/2017 fiscal year, revealing it performed excellently over the period. Camelot announced that mobile operations have been one of its main drivers, so getting its National Lottery application back on track is considered as a matter of paramount importance.
